HEAD OF STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
SRVO
Hybrid - London
Role Overview
This is a rare opportunity to build something of your own. As Head of Structural Engineering, you will define the direction, standards and delivery model for a new structural engineering service line at SRVO, shaping everything from strategy and capability to systems and go-to-market positioning.
You will join a growing multidisciplinary service provider and establish a high-performing Structural Engineering Division that complements our building surveying, project and consultancy services. Reporting to the CEO, you will set the technical agenda, win and deliver complex work, and progressively build and mentor a best-in-class team.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
You will split your time between leading technical delivery on key projects, developing methodology and QA frameworks, and building trusted client relationships that convert into sustainable revenue. You will create the operating model, tools and templates for scalable delivery while coaching engineers and collaborating closely with our surveying and project teams.
What Success Looks Like
- A clear, scalable service blueprint with robust design standards, QA procedures and risk controls embedded across the division.
- A healthy, growing pipeline with repeat clients and profitable, well-managed projects delivered to programme and budget.
- A credible technical profile for SRVO in the market, demonstrated through thought leadership, bids won and client references.
- A cohesive, motivated team with strong utilisation, low rework rates and a visible culture of safety, quality and accountability.
- Seamless collaboration with surveying and project management teams, improving project outcomes and client satisfaction.
- Data-led performance reporting in place, with KPIs tracked and actioned to continuously improve delivery and margin.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
