- Location: Remote, UK (please note, while this is a fully remote position, candidates must be willing to work from the UK in order to be considered)

King's InterHigh is seeking an exceptional Head of Subject, Performing Arts to provide strategic and operational leadership across our Performing Arts provision. With a preferred specialism in Film and Media Studies, you will lead the development of an engaging, innovative and academically rigorous curriculum across Drama, Music, Film and Media Studies.

Working closely with the Executive Head and wider Senior Leadership Team, you will drive excellence in teaching and learning, raise student achievement, lead and develop a team of subject specialists, and play a key role in shaping the future direction of Performing Arts within one of the world's leading online schools.
This is a highly visible leadership role, combining strategic thinking with hands-on curriculum leadership, people management and a passion for delivering outstanding online education.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strategic leadership for the Performing Arts department, ensuring a clear vision aligned with the school's values and educational objectives.
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Performing Arts curriculum, with particular responsibility for Film and Media Studies.
- Ensure schemes of work, learning resources and assessment materials are current, engaging and aligned to examination specifications.
- Drive high standards of teaching, learning and student outcomes across Drama, Music, Film and Media Studies.
- Monitor student progress, analyse attainment data and implement effective intervention strategies to maximise achievement.
- Lead quality assurance across the department through learning walks, lesson observations, feedback reviews and moderation activities.
- Line manage and develop members of the Performing Arts team, supporting recruitment, induction, performance management and professional development.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing departmental culture built on continuous improvement and best practice.
- Plan and deliver subject-specific CPD, coaching and mentoring to develop teaching excellence across the department.
- Work closely with Heads of Key Stage, the Head of Academic, Head of Innovation and wider school leadership to ensure alignment with whole-school priorities.
- Develop and maintain high-quality subject documentation, including curriculum overviews, handbooks and course information.
- Promote Performing Arts through enrichment opportunities, clubs, competitions, performances and wider school events.
- Build positive relationships with students and families to support academic progress, engagement and wellbeing.
- Ensure safeguarding, behaviour and school policies are consistently implemented across the department.
- Manage departmental budgets effectively, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources and value for money.
- Contribute to whole-school strategic planning, self-evaluation and school improvement initiatives.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Significant teaching experience within Performing Arts, with a specialism in Film and Media Studies preferred.
- Experience leading a subject area, department or curriculum, with a track record of improving teaching, learning and student outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of GCSE and A Level qualifications and assessment within Performing Arts.
- Experience using data to monitor performance, inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to lead, coach and develop teachers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Confidence using digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning, with online education experience advantageous.
- A collaborative, adaptable and inspiring leadership style, with a passion for Performing Arts and a commitment to delivering an exceptional student experience.
