Head of Supply Chain
Your new company
A leading food manufacturing and distribution organisation is seeking a Head of Logistics & Supply Chain to lead its end-to-end supply chain operation from its Hull site. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced supply chain professional with expertise across procurement, logistics, warehousing, and inventory management within a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment.
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will play a key role in supporting business growth, strengthening supplier partnerships, improving operational performance, and delivering a resilient, efficient supply chain. Working closely with cross-functional teams across operations, production, sales, quality, and finance, you will help drive continuous improvement while maintaining high standards of compliance, customer service, and cost control.
Your new role
As Head of Logistics & Supply Chain, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across purchasing, supply chain planning, warehousing, and distribution. You will be responsible for the sourcing of fresh and frozen raw materials, packaging, ingredients, and consumables, while developing strong supplier relationships across domestic and international markets.
The role will involve leading supply chain strategy, improving forecasting and inventory management, and developing contingency plans that support continuity of supply. You will oversee inbound and outbound logistics operations, managing third-party logistics providers and transport partners to deliver high levels of service and cost efficiency. A strong focus on cold chain integrity, on-time-in-full performance, and warehouse optimisation will form a key part of your remit.
You will also take ownership of compliance, food safety, and risk management activities, maintaining full traceability across the supply chain and supporting regulatory and customer requirements. Alongside this, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives, analyse performance data, develop supply chain reporting capabilities, and support the optimisation of business systems and processes. As a senior leader, you will coach and develop your team, build strong cross-functional relationships, and promote a collaborative culture across the organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
