Initial 6-Month Contract | London | Up to £150,000 + Exceptional Benefits
Lead the tax reporting function of one of the UK's largest financial services groups.
A rare opportunity has arisen for an accomplished tax reporting leader to step into a pivotal leadership position within the Group Tax function of a major UK financial services organisation. Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Tax Reporting to provide leadership during an important period of transition. Initially offered as a six-month contract, there is genuine potential for the successful individual to become the long-term permanent appointment.
Reporting directly to the Group Tax Director, you will lead a small team responsible for the group's tax reporting, governance and forecasting activities, while partnering with senior stakeholders across Finance and the wider business.
This is a highly visible role offering significant influence across one of the UK's most respected financial services organisations.
The Role
Your primary focus will be leading all aspects of corporate tax reporting, tax accounting and governance across a complex international group.
- Working closely with Finance leadership, external advisers and senior tax colleagues, you'll ensure robust reporting processes, oversee key global tax reporting obligations and continue developing the group's tax governance framework.
- Whilst certain corporate tax compliance activities are supported by external advisers, you'll retain oversight of key deliverables and ensure the highest standards of quality, governance and risk management.
- You'll also lead and develop a team of two experienced tax professionals while helping shape the future direction of the wider tax function.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
