Head of Technical Sales - Quantum Engineering
Head of Sales Engineering & Technical Sales – Quantum Computing
At the forefront of the quantum computing industry, we’re seeking an experienced Head of Sales Engineering & Technical Sales to lead our technical sales function and drive the adoption of advanced quantum technologies for research organisations, universities, and commercial enterprises.
About the Role
You’ll play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between cutting-edge technical solutions and commercial success. As part of an innovative deep technology company, you'll lead the technical sales strategy for advanced software platforms, integrated hardware solutions, and technical training programmes—ensuring customers can accelerate quantum technology development through automation and scalable engineering workflows.
This is a high-impact leadership position offering the opportunity to shape technical sales strategy, influence product direction, and collaborate with key organisations in academia, research, and industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical sales strategy for advanced software platforms and integrated technology solutions, ensuring customer requirements align with product capabilities.
- Partner with the commercial sales team to identify, qualify, and technically validate new business opportunities across universities, national labs, research institutions, and industrial customers.
- Act as the technical authority throughout the sales cycle, supporting complex customer evaluations, demonstrations, proof-of-concepts (PoCs), and solution design.
- Build strong customer and partner relationships to enable successful product adoption within existing technical environments.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams to translate customer feedback into future product development and roadmap priorities.
- Lead technical enablement initiatives, delivering product training, technical workshops, and certification programmes—both internally and with channel/technology partners.
- Develop reference architectures and best practices with strategic ecosystem partners to accelerate customer adoption and drive scalable go-to-market initiatives.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing sales engineering function while driving continuous improvement in customer engagement processes.

Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. A Master’s or PhD is highly advantageous, particularly in Quantum Computing, Quantum Physics, or related fields.
- Proven experience in Technical Sales, Solutions Engineering, or a similar technical leadership role, ideally within the quantum computing, HPC, scientific instrumentation, or advanced software industries.
- Strong background in leading technical or sales engineering teams specifically in quantum technology or high-performance computing spaces.
- Demonstrated ability to sell complex technical solutions to both technical specialists and senior commercial stakeholders.
- In-depth understanding of the quantum computing ecosystem and its challenges in research and engineering environments.
- Experience developing scalable technical enablement programmes for customers and partners.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms and sales analytics tools for pipeline management, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
