Senior Leadership Role: Head of Technology
About the Role

Our clients span some of the most well-known global brands, national governments, and innovative growing businesses. We operate in an ever-evolving sector with increasing importance to nation-states, corporates, universities, and NGOs.
This position is a critical member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), with responsibility for defining and delivering PGI’s technology strategy. As the Head of Technology, you will shape the organisation’s digital transformation, innovation, and operational resilience—ensuring aligned growth within an appropriately robust risk framework.
Collaborating with the SLT, you will:
- Translate strategic objectives into scalable technology solutions, programmes, and capabilities.
- Enhance operational efficiencies, strengthen organisational resilience, and enable business growth.
You will provide expert, structured guidance to inform key decisions while ensuring technology investments yield measurable value to PGI’s operations.
Key Responsibilities (Non-exhaustive)
- Strategic Leadership: Act as a pivotal SLT member, shaping and refining technology strategy to align with business priorities.
- Stakeholder Advocacy: Represent technology interests at the SLT level, communicating opportunities, risks, dependencies, and investment needs.
- Cross-functional Alignment: Balance competing demands across functions to ensure strategic alignment in discussions about:
- Risk management
- Innovation
- Operational effectiveness
- Long-term capability development
- Solution Design: Formulate technology strategy that deliverables business transformations, including:
- Efficiency gains
- Scalability enhancements
- Profitability improvements
- Resilience and effectiveness amplification
- AI Advancement & Adoption: Champion AI-enabled solutions where they offer clear, measurable value to the business.
- People Leadership: Lead, develop, and inspire high-performing technology teams, fostering a future-focused culture.
- Financial Oversight: Ensure technology department budgets are used efficiently to maximise cost control, value realisation, and organisational alignment.
- Innovation Proposals: Build detailed business cases for technology expenditures, highlighting expected outcomes, benefits, risks, and ROI.
- Future-Proofing: Anticipate future needs and provide clear recommendations to guide long-term business planning.
- Programme Management: Define and deliver major transformation initiatives, including:
- Designing & governing programmes bridging technology and business transformation
- Contributing to national/global initiatives requiring structured large-scale delivery
- Execution Oversight: Uphold alignment within large-scale technology programmes, ensuring timely completion and risk control.
- Performance Reporting: Maintain dashboards for SLT status, tracking:
- Programme performance
- Benefits realisation
- Emerging risks and opportunities
- Strategic Coordination: Maintain high-level oversight of key technology initiatives, coordinating cross-business dependencies while balancing:
- Operational priorities with long-term innovation
- Enterprise-wide resilience and capability goals
- Impact Assessment: Continuously monitor and communicate the business impact of technology investments, including:
- Efficiency improvements
- Cost optimisation
- Resilience upgrades
- Skill development
- Culture Promotion: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and responsible technology adoption.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
On day one, you will bring:
✔ Senior Leadership Experience: Proven record in technology, cybersecurity, digital transformation, or operational delivery. ✔ Strategic Thrive: Experience contributing to organisational strategy at senior levels. ✔ Programme Delivery: Ability to develop and execute technology strategy with quantifiable business outcomes. ✔ Complex Delivery Expertise: Leadership of large-scale programmes, change initiatives, and cross-functional teams. ✔ Commercial Acumen: Proven ability to construct compelling investment and resource cases. ✔ Team Development: Experience leading and mentoring senior technical professionals and managers. ✔ Stakeholder Mastery: Superior communication, engagement, and influencing skills at Executive and Board levels. ✔ Systems Thinking: Advanced analytical skills with the ability to simplify and strategise complex challenges.
Desirable Additional Credentials:
🟢 Programme Management*: Qualifications in PRINCE2, MSP, ITIL certifications, or peer-level project experience. 🟢 Security & Compliance: CISMP certification or a comparable information security qualification. 🟢 Technical Depth*: Deep knowledge of AI, cybersecurity, cloud, and data technologies.
