Head of Technology and Architecture – Pertemps Network Group

About the Role

Pertemps Network Group, one of the largest independent recruitment businesses in the UK, spans over 200 branches across 50+ subsidiary companies. With a shift from a traditional data centre model to a modern Azure-native estate, technology now sits at the core of their competitive advantage. The focus has evolved from merely acquiring capability to building it in-house, with a strategic push for growth and innovation on this foundation.

The Group IT Director is seeking a Head of Technology and Architecture to lead its architecture and delivery. This is a senior role with substantial scope for growth, potential for increased seniority, and decision-making authority over both the technical estate and its delivery teams.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Translate the Group IT Director’s strategy into design and build of the tech estate.
  • Drive growth and innovation atop a well-established foundation.
  • Shape both the technology and team future direction.
  • Be a strategic IT architect in a business where technology is a source of competitive advantage, not merely a cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the technical coherence of all Group functions, spanning:
    • Design and implementation of new platform capabilities
    • Technical integrity of integrations across the broader estate
    • Directory of teams’ technical roadmaps
    • Ownership of critical technical decisions
  • Ensure能力 balanced: can hold board-level discussions and deep architectural debates with equal expertise.
  • Translate business needs into effective solutions—challenge requirements and avoid blindly accepting ‘needs’ without robustness and feasibility.
  • Decide what not to build through architectural judgement, not just scope driven consensus.
  • Partner closely with the Group IT Director to implement their IT strategy effectively.
  • Lead, grow, and shape the technology team, including the recruitment of new skill sets, training, and mentoring.
  • Work hands-on when addressing critical engagement requirements, alongside when appropriate delegation to allow oversight.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
