Head of Transactional Finance | International Media Business | London (Hybrid)

Harmonic are delighted to be partnering with an established international media business on the search for a Head of Transactional Finance.

The Client

We're working with an established international media business with a sizeable UK finance operation and a clear need to modernise key transactional finance processes. The business is looking to strengthen service levels, improve efficiency, and bring stronger leadership across payroll and accounts payable. There is a particular focus on reviewing team structure, tightening controls, and improving the way finance partners with the wider business.

The Role

Reporting into senior finance leadership, this is a hands-on transformation role with ownership across transactional finance. The immediate priority is accounts payable, where there is a clear need to review the team, professionalise processes, and explore automation opportunities.

Beyond AP, you will support and develop an established billing and collections team headed up by a Finance Manager, focusing on driving the team forward, improving KPIs, and championing automation with a particular emphasis on AI. You will also play a key role in shaping how finance influences the end-to-end process and finance system transformation across the business. Payroll is outsourced, so this element of the role centres on managing the team, overseeing how data flows into the payroll system, and driving efficiencies rather than running payroll itself.

This role requires someone who is genuinely transformation-minded rather than a caretaker of existing processes. The business has embedded ways of working that need to be challenged, improved, and replaced with a more proactive and commercially-oriented finance service. You will need to be visible, credible with senior stakeholders, and willing to get into the detail to drive real change.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
