Head of Treasury Finance

Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: Perth or Glasgow

Salary: Circa £120,000 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + benefits to support finances, wellbeing, and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent Full Time Flexible First options available


About the Role

As Head of Treasury Finance, you will play a central role in enabling this agenda, leading the financial foundations of Treasury and working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure robust planning, strong control, and high-quality insight that informs key decisions around funding, liquidity, and risk management.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Be a core member of SSE’s Treasury Leadership Team, working closely with the Group Treasurer and senior stakeholders across Finance, Investor Relations, and the wider business.
  • Lead end-to-end Treasury financial planning, control, and reporting, including:
    • Budgeting
    • Forecasting
    • Long-term interest and net debt modelling
  • Ensure strong financial governance and high-quality reporting across:
    • Debt
    • Derivatives
    • Liquidity
    • Cash flow
    • Outputs that are accurate, compliant, and audit-ready.
  • Lead technical accounting and hedge accounting, maintaining robust controls and ensuring compliance with IFRS across a complex portfolio.
  • Provide forward-looking financial insight to support:
    • Funding
    • Capital structure
    • Risk management decisions
  • Build capability and drive continuous improvement across the function.

Requirements

You have:

  • A relevant professional financial qualification, such as:
    • ACCA
    • ICAS
    • ICAEW
    • ACA
    • CIMA
  • Experience operating within a large, complex organisation, with:
    • A track record of leading financial planning, reporting, and control at scale.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise, including:
    • A working knowledge of hedge accounting
    • Proficiency in financial governance frameworks
  • Well-developed:
    • Analytical capabilities
    • Financial modelling skills, with:
      • Strong ability to evaluate risk and opportunity
      • Appetite for translating these findings into clear, practical insights
  • A collaborative and credible leadership style, with:
    • The ability to build relationships and influence senior stakeholders
    • Skills to lead teams through change.
