Head of US Technical Accounting

£120-150k + significant package
Invenire Group is delighted to be partnering with a global, market-leading FinTech to appoint a Head of US Technical Accounting.
This is a newly created, high-profile leadership role within Group Finance, offering the opportunity to lead the technical accounting agenda for a fast-paced, international business. Acting as the subject matter expert, you will advise on complex accounting matters, support strategic transactions and ensure the highest standards of financial reporting across a dual US GAAP and IFRS reporting environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all technical accounting matters across the Group, providing authoritative guidance on complex accounting issues and ensuring the consistent application of accounting policies.
- Own the interpretation and application of US GAAP, whilst maintaining a strong understanding of IFRS and the interaction between both reporting frameworks.
- Provide technical accounting advice on complex and non-routine transactions, including new commercial initiatives, acquisitions, financing arrangements and corporate restructurings.
- Act as the Group's subject matter expert on financial instruments, hedge accounting and IFRS 9, ensuring complex treasury and risk management activities are appropriately accounted for.
- Lead the assessment, implementation and documentation of new accounting standards and emerging technical guidance.
- Prepare and review technical accounting papers, accounting position papers and memoranda to support significant accounting judgements.
- Support the preparation of external financial reporting, ensuring technical accounting conclusions are accurately reflected within statutory financial statements and SEC filings.
- Provide technical oversight of the Group consolidation process across a complex international business.
- Act as the primary technical contact for external auditors, regulators and internal stakeholders on complex accounting matters.
- Develop and maintain the Group's accounting policy framework, strengthening governance, financial controls and reporting processes.
- Lead and develop a high-performing technical accounting team while building technical capability across the wider finance function.

Key Requirements:

- ACA (or equivalent) qualified – ideally Big 4 trained.
- Significant post-qualification experience gained within a large international or listed organisation.
- Extensive US GAAP experience is essential, ideally gained within a US-listed or SEC reporting environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, including IFRS 9 and hedge accounting.
- Outstanding technical accounting capability, coupled with the ability to communicate complex accounting issues to senior stakeholders.
- Gravitas and credibility to influence senior leadership and act as the organisation's recognised technical accounting expert.
