Location: London Westminster, United Kingdom Working Model: Hybrid – 60% onsite, 40% remote

Role Purpose & Key Responsibilities

As the Head of Valuation, you will provide strategic leadership and authoritative oversight of valuation practice globally. You will shape standards, influence policy, and establish RICS as the benchmark for professional excellence, ethics, and consistency in valuation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction of valuation practice, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and public interest objectives.
  • Oversee the development and evolution of valuation standards and guidance, including the Red Book, to maintain global relevance and consistency.
  • Provide expert technical advice on complex or high-risk valuation matters to senior leadership and regulatory functions.
  • Represent RICS externally, engaging with regulators, governments, and industry leaders to influence policy and promote standards.
  • Support professional governance, contributing to boards, committees, and regulatory activities to uphold integrity and public trust.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering collaboration, capability development, and continuous improvement.

About You

You are a senior valuation professional with deep technical expertise and strong leadership capability. Confident in executive-level operations, you excel at influencing key stakeholders and representing the profession on complex, high-profile matters.

Essential Requirements:

  • Chartered Surveyor (MRICS/FRICS) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Significant experience in valuation, professional standards, regulation, or policy environments.
  • Strong technical expertise across valuation principles, markets, and global practice.
  • Proven ability to influence at senior/executive level in complex stakeholder environments.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, capable of simplifying complex issues.
  • Values-driven, resilient, and committed to ethics, professionalism, and public interest.
