The Opportunity
Location: Broxbourne
Salary: £14.70 - £15.20
Hours: 40 hours per week (Mon-Fri 9am - 6pm, 1 Sat per month 7:45am - 1pm)
Contract: Permanent
We are looking for an organised, proactive, and customer-focused Head Receptionist to lead our reception team and help deliver an outstanding experience for every patient who visits our practice.
As the first point of contact for our patients, our reception team plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, professional, and efficient environment. As Head Receptionist, you will lead by example, supporting your colleagues while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the reception function.
Working closely with the Practice Manager, clinicians, and wider practice team, you'll help drive exceptional patient service, support operational efficiency, and foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
The Role
As Head Receptionist, You Will
- Lead, support, and motivate the reception team.
- Ensure every patient receives a warm, friendly, and professional welcome.
- Oversee appointment scheduling and diary management to maximise efficiency.
- Handle patient enquiries, both in person and over the telephone, with professionalism and empathy.
- Support the Practice Manager with reception rotas, training, and performance management.
- Assist with the recruitment, induction, and mentoring of new reception team members.
- Monitor reception processes and identify opportunities to improve the patient journey.
- Ensure patient records are accurate and maintained in line with GDPR and company policies.
- Manage incoming correspondence, emails, and administrative tasks efficiently.
- Promote a positive, organised, and supportive working environment.

About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience in a dental, healthcare, or customer service environment.
- Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding organisational and time management abilities.
- A professional, approachable, and patient-focused manner.
- Confidence using computer systems and appointment booking software.
- The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy environment.
- A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
Experience using dental practice management software is desirable but not essential.
