Head Teacher

Location: Diss, Suffolk
Salary: £100,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are recruiting a Headteacher / School Lead to lead a specialist school in Diss, Suffolk, supporting children and young people with Learning Disabilities and associated SEND.

You will provide overall leadership, ensuring high standards of education, safeguarding, and school development, while creating a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic and day-to-day running of the school
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and child-centred environment
  • Ensure safeguarding is central to all school activity
  • Oversee curriculum delivery, assessment, and pupil progress
  • Lead staff recruitment, development, and performance
  • Ensure compliance with SEND, safeguarding, and education standards
  • Work with families, local authorities, and external professionals
  • Maintain inspection readiness and drive continuous improvement

About the School

The school supports pupils with Learning Disabilities and additional SEND, including autism, communication needs, sensory needs, and social, emotional and mental health needs.

The focus is on providing a structured, nurturing environment where pupils can develop communication, independence, relationships, and preparation for adulthood.

Requirements

  • Experience in senior leadership within education or specialist SEND provision
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and SEND practice
  • Experience supporting children with learning disabilities and complex needs
  • Ability to lead, develop and manage staff teams
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Suitable to meet safeguarding and regulatory requirements, including enhanced DBS
