Harvey Nichols is entering an exciting new chapter. With renewed energy, fresh creativity, and a clear vision for the future, the brand is evolving — reclaiming its place as one of London’s most iconic destinations for style, culture, and hospitality.
At the heart of this transformation is the Fifth Floor Restaurant — a vibrant dining space above the energy of Knightsbridge, where modern cuisine, design, and social atmosphere come together. Known for its contemporary feel and dynamic setting, the restaurant is once again becoming a destination for guests seeking exceptional food and memorable dining experiences.
We are seeking an experienced Head Waiter who thrives in a sophisticated, fast-paced environment and has a genuine passion for hospitality. This is a role for someone who understands that great service is both an art and a craft — and who can lead by example, combining attention to detail with warmth, confidence, and personality.
The Role
As part of the Fifth Floor team, you will play a key role in shaping both the guest experience and the performance of the front-of-house team within one of London’s most stylish dining destinations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading service on the floor with confidence, presence, and professionalism, setting the tone for warm, engaging hospitality
- Acting as a beacon of knowledge — bringing the menu to life through the art of storytelling, and guiding both guests and team with clarity and enthusiasm
- Delivering attentive, seamless service while ensuring exceptional attention to detail and presentation at every stage
- Supporting, mentoring, and training team members to uphold the highest standards of service and guest experience
- Anticipating guest needs and resolving challenges with tact, composure, and a solutions-focused mindset
- Working closely with kitchen and bar teams to ensure a cohesive, elevated and well-paced service
- Contributing positive energy on the floor, creating a culture that is collaborative, motivated, and guest-focused

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
