Health Advisor – Permanent Full-Time Role (SS1 1AN)

Location: Southend Salary: £28,700 + fantastic benefits Hours: Full-time (40 hours) Flexibility: We consider all types of flexibility, including locations, hours, and working patterns.

About the Role

As a Health Advisor at Bupa Clinics, you’ll apply your professional expertise to help customers Live Longer, Healthier, Happier Lives. Here, you’ll be at the heart of the patient experience—guided by your clinical skills and adaptability to provide personalised, hands-on support.

You’ll spend the majority of your time working directly with customers, using your training and compassion to understand, assess, and motivate them toward healthier, more fulfilling lifestyles.

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver Health Assessments:
    • Support the full service experience, from initial consult through assessment and concluding positive outcomes.
  • Maintain Clinical Accuracy:
    • Keep detailed, compliant, and up-to-date customer records.
  • Promote Holistic Wellbeing:
    • Align customer education and motivation with Bupa’s clinical policies to emphasise preventive behaviour change.
  • Perform Clinical Tests:
    • Conduct a wide array of salient health assessments, including:
      • Body composition analysis
      • Spirometry
      • Heart rate/rhythm monitoring
      • Blood gas analysis (e.g., diabetes markers: blood sugar, HbA1c, insulin levels)
      • Blood pressure monitoring
      • Cholesterol profiling
      • Anaemia screening (RBC, MCV, ferritin)
      • Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
      • Audiometry testing
      • Functional movement assessments (e.g., balance, gait, strength)
  • Personalise Motivation and Action-Planning:
    • Use motivational interviewing techniques to craft individualised lifestyle action plans that encourage sustainable health improvement.
  • Post-Assessment Support:
    • Make follow-up calls to guide customers through recommended lifestyle changes and reaffirm commitment to their plans.

Key Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent in exercise physiology, sports science, or nutritional sciences.
  • Proven customer-facing experience with a proven ability to build rapport and tailor communications.
  • Strong dedication to accuracy and compliance with clinical documentation standards.
  • Comfort performing health measurements/assessments in clinical, medical, or fitness settings.

Desirable

  • Experience within healthcare, wellness centres, or sports/physiotherapy clinics.
  • Any prior experience in delivering health education to diverse populations.
