Health and Safety Advisor – Stoke Depot

About the Role
Location
Based in our Stoke depot, supporting our customer Sainsbury’s.
Contract Details
- Full-time, permanent position
- Contracted hours: 40 per week (Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30), with flexibility required for business needs.
Salary & Benefits
We offer:
- A salary of up to £39,000 per annum
- 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)

What You’ll Do
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and embed our H&S strategy, translating priorities into measurable operational outcomes, while maintaining strong safety governance through audits, inspections, and risk management.
- Act as the trusted H&S advisor to site leadership, providing pragmatic guidance, constructive challenge, and influencing decision-making—balancing risk, compliance, and business needs.
- Provide visible, hands-on safety leadership within operations, strengthening safety culture, driving behavioural change, and moving performance beyond basic compliance.
- Develop leadership and operational capability by coaching managers on:
- Safety ownership
- Investigations
- Root cause analysis
- Accountability across the site
- Use data, insights, and trend analysis to:
- Prioritise risk
- Manage competing H&S priorities
- Lead effective incident investigations
- Deliver timely corrective actions
- Collaborate across sites and support wider operational needs.

What You Need to Succeed
To excel in this role, you should demonstrate the following qualities and experience:

- Proven ability to influence and engage operational leaders, driving measurable safety improvement through:

- Strong investigative and problem-solving capability in fast-paced operational environments, capable of:
- Managing complex issues
- Leading outcomes
- Driving continuous improvement
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and disciplined, with the ability to:
- Manage multiple priorities independently
- Maintain high standards and integrity
- Confident and effective communicator, able to build trusted, professional relationships with:
- Colleagues
- Customers
- Regional teams
- External stakeholders at all levels
- Experienced and technically competent safety professional with:
- NEBOSH or NVQ Level 3 Qualification (essential)
- Experience in a supervisory or safety-related role (logistics background beneficial).
