Health and Safety Advisor
Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Health and Safety Advisor on a full-time, permanent basis.
Main purpose of the role
The post-holder will help coordinate, facilitate, manage, train, and promote the continual improvement of health and safety awareness within the College. The successful candidate will be keen to develop their Health and Safety experience in a challenging and high-performing environment, with the potential to take on additional responsibilities and career progression.
Person Specifications
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
- Demonstrate a good knowledge of safe working practices.
- Experience of working on own initiative and effectively prioritising a busy and demanding workload.
- Knowledge of the principles and application of GDPR.
- Full driving licence - to travel around the College estate.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills e.g. the ability to adapt communication according to setting or person.
- Energetic and positive approach to work.
- Solution focused.
- Ability to make things happen - comfortable with enforcing / re-enforcing rules and conflict resolution.
- Excellent diplomatic and listening skills but ability to be assertive and robust when required.
- Innovative with the ability to think out of the box.
- Experience of working on own initiative and effectively prioritising a demanding workload.
- Experience of working in an environment where the principles and application of Safeguarding are paramount.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will either have completed training or be willing to undergo training in the following areas:
- Educated to Level 3 qualification or equivalent, ideally in a relevant subject e.g. Health and Safety (Nebosh Certificate or Diploma, Nebosh certificate in Fire Safety, conducting fire risk assessments, fire door inspections, property management, business administration.
- IOSH Qualification.
