Location: Glasgow – with some travel throughout UK
Role Description
We are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor with proven experience across high-risk industries to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with clients on a consultancy basis, delivering inspections, audits, and improvements that enhance safety performance. You’ll be trusted to manage your own workload, influence senior management teams, and represent Gordon Foley at client sites and meetings. Whilst this role is mainly central belt based there may be a requirement to travel in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting site inspections, audits, and compliance assessments across multiple sectors.
- Supporting clients with the development and implementation of health & safety management systems.
- Leading accident, incident and near-miss investigations, delivering clear reports and recommendations.
- Advising on regulatory compliance including Work at Height, CDM, COSHH, PUWER, and LOLER.
- Facilitating safety meetings, workshops, and employee consultations.
- Developing and delivering training, toolbox talks, and safety briefings where required.
- Assisting clients with ISO and SSIP compliance.
- Providing ongoing consultancy support by telephone or email for operational queries, incident advice, and day-to-day safety guidance.

About You
We’re looking for a confident, proactive safety professional who combines strong technical knowledge and operational experience with excellent people skills. You will be comfortable working independently with multiple clients, engaging with directors, site managers, and operatives alike.
Essential
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) and significant industry experience.
- Registered with IOSH, with TechIOSH as the minimum membership level.
- Demonstrable experience across construction, manufacturing, or civil engineering.
- Strong track record in audits, inspections, and accident investigation.
- Experience in Accident Investigation and Safety Training.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.

Desirable
- Currently progressing towards a Diploma-level qualification in Health & Safety.
- Experience in consultancy or multi-client environments.
- Additional qualifications such as NEBOSH Construction or Fire, or auditing certification.
