As our operations continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated and ambitious Health & Safety Advisor who is looking to develop their career. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across laboratory, manufacturing, engineering and operational environments while contributing to the continuous development of our health, safety and compliance systems.
The Opportunity

- Development Pathway to Health & Safety Manager
This role is ideally suited to an individual who has a solid foundation in health and safety and is ready to take the next step in their career.
Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager and operational leadership teams, you will gain exposure to:
- Health and Safety management systems
- ISO 9001 implementation and auditing
- ISO 45001 preparation
- Regulatory compliance and inspections
- Incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Safety leadership and culture development
- Strategic health and safety planning
As the business continues to grow, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of larger projects and progressively develop into a future Health & Safety Manager role.

Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Governance
- Support compliance with UK health and safety legislation and associated regulations.
- Assist in maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 management systems.
- Participate in internal audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
- Support regulatory inspections and customer audits.
Risk Management
- Assist with risk assessments, COSHH assessments and DSEAR assessments.
- Support permit-to-work activities and contractor management.
- Participate in incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis.
- Track corrective and preventative actions through to completion.
Training & Communication
- Deliver health and safety inductions and awareness training.
- Support development of toolbox talks, safety campaigns and communications.
- Promote employee engagement in health and safety initiatives.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Conduct workplace inspections and behavioural observations.
- Monitor accident, near miss and hazard reporting systems.
- Support KPI reporting and trend analysis.
- Assist with emergency preparedness exercises and response planning.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve safety performance and compliance.
- Support implementation of safety improvement projects.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of company policies, procedures and standards.
- Gradually assume ownership of selected management system elements as experience develops.
Skills & Experience

Essential
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment
- Excellent understanding of UK health and safety legislation
- Experience supporting risk assessments and incident investigations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Desirable
- Working towards NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
- Experience with ISO 45001 management systems
- Knowledge of COSHH, DSEAR, PUWER and LOLER
- Internal auditing experience
- IOSH membership
