Health & Safety Consultant | Bolton
Fixed-term Contract (Circa 5 Weeks) – Immediate Start Competitive Day Rate | 37.5 Hour Week
About the Role
TSA Riley’s Health & Safety team are seeking to hire an experienced Health & Safety Consultant to work in a fast-paced retail environment for a national client who owns a large chain of stores throughout the UK.
This is a fixed-term contract for approximately 5 weeks. The successful candidate will:
- Be paid a competitive day rate
- Split their time between our Bolton office
- Conduct site visits in the north and Midlands regions
This is an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Consultant to join an established and professional team, with the primary purpose of supporting and advising the project team. The role demand:
- A hands-on approach
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with all stakeholders
Duties & Responsibilities
Key typical tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Carrying out health & safety audits at small to medium-sized business using iAuditor/Safety Culture Software.
- Producing reports and action plans.
- Supporting pre-construction activities with clients.
- Drafting policies, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, safe working practices.
- Assisting clients with SSIP Accreditations (e.g., CHAS, SMAS).
- Developing strong working relationships with clients at all levels.
- Communicating with, and advising, stakeholders from the CEO to shop floor workers.
- Delivering training and coaching sessions.
- Advising on wellbeing initiatives specific to the construction industry.
- Reviewing Record ofConstruction Design Procedures (RAMS) and Construction Phase Plans (CPPs).
- Administering projects using iManage software.
- Conducting construction design and management (CDM) workshops and providing tailored recommendations.
- Preparing health and safety files.

Experience and Qualifications Required
Essential Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
- **Valid **- CSCS card
Key Skills & Experiences
- Proven experience carrying out a Health and Safety Consultant role, or similar, with a reputable construction contractor, consultancy or developer
- Essential familiarity with working in Health and Safety across construction and built environment sectors
- Desirable experience in principal design roles
- Strong ability to solve problems and act in a dynamic manner
- Strong stakeholder management capability, including effectively communicating and delivering recommendations
- Proficiency in rapidly learning new client reporting systems
- Ability to review risk assessments in the workplace, proposing reasonably practicable control measures
- Demonstrable knowledge of RAMS
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including report and document writing
- Advanced IT literacy
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with demonstrated success in managing multiple concurrent projects or client accounts
- full UK driving license (essential as travel to regional sites will be required)
