Health and Safety Management System Lead
Health and Safety Management Systems Lead
[Fixed-term 12-month contract]
The Health and Safety Management Systems Lead will be responsible for designing, digitalising, and integrating our ISO 45001 management framework across our educational and residential homes settings. This is a home-based remote role with some UK-wide travel.
Salary: £36,000 - £44,000 (dependent on qualifications and experience).
- Candidates with developing experience or near-complete qualifications will usually be placed at the lower end.
- Fully qualified and experienced professionals may be positioned at the upper end.
About the Role
With a strong focus on shaping policy and driving digital transformation, you’ll transition from site inspections to building corporate health and safety strategies, creating safe and uplifting environments for vulnerable young people.
Your work will help craft health and safety standards that align with our digital-first approach, ensuring real-time data capture, streamlined reporting, and culture-led improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Policy & Strategy
- Design and write fit-for-purpose health and safety policies tailored to care and learning environments
- Align health and safety into daily team practices, ensuring well-integrated procedures
- Lead digital transformation to replace paper-based systems with centralised software platforms
Culture & Empowerment
- Foster a strong health and safety culture by empowering teams to take ownership
- Frequently conduct meetings with schools and homes to gather feedback and assess operating standards

Policy Development
- Update policies, risk assessments, and documentation to maintain practical clarity and compliance
- Align health and safety processes with software systems for seamless reporting and efficiency
Training & Engagement
- Develop and deliver engaging health and safety training, including supporting resources
- Gather stakeholder input to refine guidelines, aiming at improved standards and learning
Requirements & Qualifications
Essential:
- Background in health and safety, preferably in a people-focused sector (e.g., education, care)
- Demonstrated ability to write policies, risk assessments, and deliver training
- Proven change leadership — driving conviction in protective practices
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Safety & Health
- Clear understanding of health and safety legislation and legislation
- Microsoft Office competence, strong relationship-building skills, and attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility for UK-wide travel
Desirable:
- ISO 45001 experience, or further certifications (e.g., fire safety, environmental management)
- Hands-on knowledge of health and safety data systems
