Job Title: Health & Safety Manager
Location: London
Salary: £85,000 - £100,000 Per Annum

Our client is one of the UK's leading building services engineering contractors, with over a century of experience delivering complex mechanical, electrical and technology solutions across the built environment. Renowned for its technical expertise and commitment to quality, the business specialises in delivering major projects within critical environments, including data centres, commercial developments, healthcare, education and infrastructure. With a strong focus on innovation, sustainability and collaborative delivery, the company has built a reputation for successfully executing technically challenging projects for many of the UK's most prestigious clients.
The organisation places a strong emphasis on health, safety and employee development, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. As part of its continued growth within the data centre sector, they are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead the health and safety function on a major data centre construction project in London. This is a client-facing leadership role responsible for driving the project's health, safety and wellbeing strategy while managing a team of two Health & Safety Advisors.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the project's Health & Safety Management System.
- Provide visible leadership and promote a positive health and safety culture across the project.
- Manage, mentor and develop a team of two Health & Safety Advisors.
- Act as the primary health and safety representative with the client, maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Support the Health & Safety Director in delivering strategic H&S objectives across the project.
- Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation, industry best practice and client-specific requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance through audits, inspections and behavioural safety initiatives.
- Lead investigations into incidents, near misses and non-conformances, ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Review and approve RAMS, construction methodologies and high-risk work activities.
- Produce and present regular H&S reports, KPIs and performance updates to senior management and the client.
- Chair health and safety meetings and contribute to project planning to ensure safety is embedded throughout delivery.
- Support project teams in achieving programme objectives while maintaining the highest safety standards.
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practice sharing.

Essential Requirements
- Proven Health & Safety management experience on data centre construction projects.
- Previous experience managing Health & Safety Advisors or a small H&S team.
- Strong client-facing experience with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
- NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) preferred; NEBOSH General Certificate is essential.
- Excellent knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations and construction best practice.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence operational teams and promote a proactive safety culture.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and health and safety reporting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership of IOSH (GradIOSH or CMIOSH desirable).
