Health & Safety Manager
Our client is a specialist contractor operating across complex construction environments, delivering project management, logistics, and site support solutions on some of the most technically challenging developments in the UK and Europe. With a strong reputation for operational excellence, client service, and successful project delivery, they continue to expand their already prominent presence within the rapidly growing Data Centre sector.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work across Europe, they are looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join their team. This role will see you taking ownership of health, safety, environmental, and wellbeing performance across large-scale data centre developments valued at approximately £40M, supporting one to two projects concurrently while ensuring the highest standards of compliance and operational excellence are maintained.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business at the forefront of one of construction's fastest-growing markets. The successful individual will play a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture, working closely with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and efficiently from inception through to completion.
The role will involve regular travel across Europe, primarily supporting projects in Finland, the Netherlands, and Denmark, making it ideally suited to someone who enjoys working within an international environment and supporting technically complex projects across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the implementation and management of health, safety, environmental, and wellbeing standards across major data centre projects valued at circa £40m.
- Providing expert health and safety advice and support to project teams, site management, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promoting a positive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and engagement with all site personnel.
- Conducting regular site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to company procedures, client requirements, and local legislation.
- Investigating incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Developing and reviewing risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), construction phase plans, and other health and safety documentation.
- Monitoring contractor performance and ensuring all subcontractors comply with project-specific health and safety requirements.
- Supporting project teams during client inspections, external audits, and regulatory visits.
- Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions to improve awareness and promote continuous improvement.
- Producing health and safety reports, KPI data, and performance metrics for senior management and clients.
- Working collaboratively with operational teams to identify potential risks and implement practical solutions without impacting programme delivery.
- Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and industry best practice, ensuring continuous improvement across all projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
