Health and Safety Manager

Health & Safety Officer (Real Estate Services) – Workman

About the Role

The Health & Safety team ensures that Workman delivers a robust and compliant service aligned with UK statutory requirements and industry best practice across their 11 offices and throughout their managed commercial property portfolio.

This remote-based role provides support to:

  • Internal teams within the Workman portfolio
  • Property Managers
  • Onsite management teams
  • Tenants

The objective is to develop safe systems of work, deliver effective training, reduce risks, and help maintain a safe environment for all occupiers, visitors, and employees, with support extending across a regional area.

Key Responsibilities

Core Objectives

  • Provide H&S advice and support to all operational employees within properties under Workman’s management.
  • Ensure robust, compliant, and high-quality risk assessments are conducted with effective, timely communication of all actions.
  • Collaborate with the wider Health and Safety team responsible for different UK regions.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and deliver relevant recommendations based on new legislation.

Day-to-Day Duties

  • ** Undertake site-specific risk assessments and audits**
  • Act as the Fire Warden and First Aider for assigned office(s)
  • Investigate Health and Safety incidents, liaise as needed with external authorities, and escalate when necessary
  • Work closely with the Claims Team to ensure claim progress and notify the correct parties
  • Manage web-enabled H&S databases and electronic management tools
  • Assist with maintaining ISO:45001 standards, including auditing support
  • Track and close all risk assessment actions within agreed timelines
  • Support onsite staff with inspections, safe working practices, and compliance queries
  • Develop, implement, and manage H&S policies and procedures across the Workman group
  • Support broader wellbeing and staff safety initiatives

Requirements & Skills

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within the Real Estate and Property industry
  • H&S diploma and Charted Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH)
  • Extensive knowledge of Fire Safety within the built environment
  • Fire and/or Health & Safety qualifications with relevant industry memberships
  • Full UK driving licence (essential for regular onsite visits)
  • Familiarity and experience with web-enabled risk management systems
