Health and Social Care Foundation Apprentice
Foundation apprenticeships are introductory courses that help young people get started in an industry. You do not need to have any specific qualifications or experience to apply. Anyone between 16 and 21 can start a foundation apprenticeship. If you're between 22 and 24, you can start if you: have an EHC plan are in care or have been in care are in prison or have been in prison
You will be supporting adults with learning and/or physical disabilities to live the lives they choose based on what they need and what is important to them. This covers lots of things, such as assisting people with their personal hygiene, washing, dressing, and meals, through to helping people do whatever they choose to do within the day.
Requirements
- You do not need to have any specific qualifications or experience to apply.
- Age: 16-21 years old.
- Aged 22-24 if you have an EHC plan, are in or have been in care, or are in or have been in prison.
- Patience and resilience.
- Ability to stay calm, kind, and professional.
- Flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent care and support to each individual, ensuring it is safe, personal, respectful, maintains dignity, and is carried out according to needs and preferences.
- Provide excellent quality personal care, including hygiene, washing, dressing, oral hygiene, and nail care.
- Manage medication according to individual needs (right medication, dose, time, and support level).
- Prepare meals and assist people with eating, respecting dietary requirements.
- Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, ironing, and shopping.
- Support people to have a social and active lifestyle based on their wishes.
- Provide companionship to help reduce isolation.
- Collaborate with Support Officers to plan and review care and support needs and activities.
- Record care and support provided, feedback, and important information for peers and managers.
- Report and record any concerns about a person's well-being.

Benefits
- Wage: £19,240 a year (National Minimum Wage rates apply).
- Training: Health and social care foundation apprenticeship (level 2) qualification over 8 months.
- Work-based training: Mixture of face-to-face sessions and remote calls with a Learner Coach every 6 weeks.
- Mentorship: Support from an in-workplace mentor.
- Functional Skills: Obtain English and Maths Functional Skills if GCSEs or equivalents are not held.
- Reviews: 12-weekly reviews with the Apprentice, Line Manager, and Learner Coach.
- Permanent Role: Potential offer of a permanent role at PossAbilities upon successful completion of the apprenticeship and meeting performance expectations.
- Valuable Training: Completion of a wide range of training, such as a care certificate.
