Learning & Development Trainer (Training Role – Southampton & Salisbury Area)
Job Details
- Hours: 37.5 per week (Part-time options available)
- Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 per annum (pro-rata for part-time, based on experience)
Job Purpose
To design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality learning and development programmes, ensuring colleagues are competent, confident, and compliant in their roles.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- A full driving license is required due to travel responsibilities.
Main Duties
- Design & develop training materials, learning resources, and e-learning content to meet regulatory and organisational standards.
- Deliver engaging training across face-to-face, virtual, and blended learning platforms.
- Provide corporate induction programs and support managers in embedding learning into daily practice.
- Identify learning needs with managers and develop tailored solutions.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, observation, assessments, and performance metrics—using insights to improve continuously.
- Maintain accurate training records (competency assessments, attendance, compliance matrices) in line with company policies and audit requirements.
- Use the Learning Management System (LMS) to assign learning, track progress, generate reports, and monitor compliance.
- Ensure training documentation is compliant, up-to-date, and audit-ready.
- Communicate training requirements, competency outcomes, and deadlines to stakeholders and managers.
- Stay professionally updated with legislation, best practice, learning technologies, and required accreditations (e.g., Proact-SCIPr-UK®, First Aid, Mental Health First Aid).
- Administrative support for trainings, including scheduling, bookings, and resource management.
- Collaborate with the Lead Trainer & L&D team to develop curriculum content and promote a positive learning culture.

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Teaching, Training, or Assessing (or commitment to obtain this).
- Proven experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating learning programmes.
- Understanding of adult learning principles and effective training methodologies.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in the care sector (particularly with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health).
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Key Skills & Attributes
- Strong organisation, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Microsoft Teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
