Training & Development Officer

Hours: 37.5 (Part-time options available)

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum (full-time equivalent, based on experience)

Job Purpose

A full driving licence is required.

To design, deliver and evaluate high-quality learning and development programmes that enable colleagues to:

  • Achieve competency in their roles
  • Build confidence in workplace practices
  • Meet regulatory compliance requirements effectively

The Trainer will:

  • Engage learners across face-to-face, virtual, and blended learning environments
  • Support induction and competency development
  • Maintain accurate learning records
  • Foster a positive learning culture aligned with the Learning and Development Strategy

Key Responsibilities

Execution of Learning Programmes

  • Design, develop, and continuously improve training materials, learning resources, and e-learning content to meet organisational and regulatory standards
  • Deliver engaging training programmes using adult learning methods, including:
    • Face-to-face sessions
    • Virtual environments
    • Blended learning approaches
  • Oversee corporate induction programmes and work with managers to embed learning into daily workflows

Needs Assessment & Evaluation

  • Collaborate with managers to identify learning gaps and develop bespoke learning solutions
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through:
    • Learner feedback
    • Observation and assessment outcomes
    • Operational performance metrics
    • Findings-driven improvements to training

Administrative & Compliance Tasks

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date:
    • Learner records
    • Competency assessments
    • Attendance registers
    • Training matrices (aligned with company policy and audit requirements)
  • Use the Learning Management System (LMS) to:
    • Assign learning content
    • Monitor compliance
    • Generate performance reports
    • Track learner progress
  • Support quality assurance by ensuring:
    • All training documentation remains compliant and audit-ready
  • Liaise with managers regarding:
    • Training requirements
    • Competency outcomes
    • Compliance deadlines

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum Level 3 Teaching/Training/Assessing qualification (or commitment to achieve)
  • Experience:
    • Designing, delivering, and evaluating learning programmes
    • Using Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Office
    • Microsoft Teams
  • Strong skills in:
    • Organisation & time management
    • Communication and stakeholder engagement
    • Managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy

Desirable

  • Experience in the care sector
  • Understanding of adult learning principles
  • Effective training methodologies (e.g., andragogy; problem-based learning)
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
