Learning and Development Trainer – Enabling Competence & Compliance
Hours:
- 37.5 hours per week (Part-time options available)
Salary: £30,000 (based on full-time hours, reflective of experience).
Full Driving License Required
Job Purpose
The Learning and Development Trainer will design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality learning and development programmes tailored to support colleagues in being competent, confident, and compliant in their roles. Duties include:
- Developing engaging content across face-to-face, virtual, and blended formats
- Facilitating induction and competency development
- Maintaining accurate learning records
- Promoting a positive, culture-first learning environment aligned with organisational strategy
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Training Design & Delivery
- Design, develop, and continually enhance training materials, learning resources, and e-learning content to meet organisational and regulatory standards.
- Deliver engaging training using varied adult learning methods, including face-to-face and virtual sessions.
- Oversee and enhance corporate induction programmes, embedding learning into day-to-day practice.
Stakeholder & Needs Assessment
- Collaborate with managers to identify learning needs and create customised solutions.
- Gather and apply learner feedback, observations, and performance data to improve training.
Compliance & Administration
- Upkeep accurate learner records, competency assessments, and regulatory documentation.
- Utilise Learning Management System (LMS) to assign learning, monitor compliance, generate reports, and track progress.
- Ensure all training documentation remains audit-ready.

Professional Development & Support
- Maintain industry knowledge, including Proact-SCIP-rUK®, First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid.
- Provide administrative support, including bookings, resource organisation, and correspondence.
Team Collaboration
- Work with the Lead Trainer and wider L&D team to align curriculum with organisational goals.
Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum Level 3 Teaching, Training, or Assessing qualification (or willingness to achieve).
- Proven experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating learning programmes.
- Strong competency in adult learning principles and effective training methods.
- Proficiency in using Learning Management Systems.
- Excellent organisation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
- Ability to prioritise tasks while keeping records accurate and up-to-date.
Desirable
- Experience in the care sector.
