As a Health Care Assistant, you will be supporting clients with their day to day care needs in home care and community based settings. You will help clients remain safe, comfortable and supported while promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing.
The role may involve supporting older people, vulnerable adults and individuals who require assistance with personal care, mobility, companionship and daily routines.
Responsibilities
The precise tasks carried out by a Health Care Assistant will vary depending on the client’s care needs. However, typical tasks include:
Helping clients with personal care tasks, including washing, showering, dressing and using the toilet Supporting clients with meals, drinks and eating where required Assisting with mobility, transfers and safe movement around the home Talking to clients to ease loneliness and provide companionship Listening to the needs of clients and responding appropriately Helping to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable living environment Supporting clients with daily routines and encouraging independence where possible Observing and reporting any changes in the client’s health, mood or wellbeing Recording and reporting care progression, incidents, accidents and concerns Ensuring clients are treated with dignity, respect and protection from abuse at all times Following care plans, company policies and safeguarding procedures Working closely with the care team and reporting updates to senior staff where needed

Skills
Health Care Assistants will need to possess the following skills:
A caring, approachable and respectful nature Good communication and listening skills Sensitivity and patience when supporting vulnerable people Reliability and good timekeeping The ability to work independently while recognising personal limitations Flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team A calm approach in difficult or emotional situations Good organisational skills An understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries

Driving skills and access to your own vehicle are highly preferred due to the nature of domiciliary care, but not essential for all roles.
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care is preferable but not necessary, as full training will be provided. xlqdzyr
