Bracken Ward (at the Airedale Centre for Mental Health)
Bracken Ward (at the Airedale Centre for Mental Health) are looking for passionate and committed individuals to join our acute inpatient ward as Health Care Support Workers (HCSW).
We are a provider of high-quality mental health, community and learning disability services across Bradford.
We work with individuals, their carers and our partners to ensure that people get the right care, in the right place with the right support. We share the common goal of becoming the leading provider of integrated care for people of all ages with mental or physical health needs.
Bracken Ward is the Older Peoples functional acute admissions ward, caring for those from the age of 65, who are experiencing acute mental health crisis.
This post involves a 24-hour service rota, including long days, nights, and weekends.

- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an in-person assessment centre on 3rd August 2026 at New Mill, Saltaire.

Role Description
To provide generic care and planned interventions to the patients/clients within the Older Peoples Mental Health Acute Care Service.
- Provide care to patients to maintain their personal hygiene, physical health and psychological comfort ensuring that their privacy and dignity is always maintained
- Under the supervision of registered health care professionals assist the healthcare team with the provision of clinical care for a defined group of patients
- Ensure patient safety is maintained and patient experience is positive by treating all patients, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity, and courtesy in accordance with Trust values.
- Takes leadership from Assistant Practitioner within a delegation framework for agreed tasks.
About You
You will need to be resilient, compassionate and dedicated to providing holistic care. Patient focused and driven to helping encourage recovery of our patients.
