The Role
Are you a compassionate and caring individual who is passionate about supporting people with their mental health and wellbeing? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking for a Healthcare Support Worker to join our Inpatient Mental Health team, where you will play an important role in delivering safe, person-centred care to adults and older adults. Working alongside nurses and a wider multidisciplinary team, you will help support recovery, promote independence and provide high-quality care in a therapeutic environment. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Full Time, Permanent
- You will be based at Leverndale Hospital
- Rotational days/nights - Monday - Sunday
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, recovery-focused care and support to patients as part of the multidisciplinary team
- Contribute to care planning by implementing and reporting on agreed aspects of care to the named nurse or nurse in charge
- Support patients with their physical health, mental wellbeing and daily living activities
- Identify and report risks, concerns and changes in a patient's condition to support safe and effective care
- Build positive therapeutic relationships with patients and carers founded on dignity, respect and inclusion
- Assist with health promotion activities that support recovery, wellbeing and relapse prevention
- Maintain accurate records and work in line with HCSW standards, policies, procedures and confidentiality requirements

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
- Educated to SVQ Level 3, SCQF Level 6, working towards this qualification or able to demonstrate equivalent experience
- Experience of working in a health, mental health, social care or similar caring environment
- Working knowledge of mental health issues and person-centred approaches to care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team while following guidance and care plans
- Experience of using digital systems, email and basic IT applications to support service delivery
- Understanding of professional standards, confidentiality and the Healthcare Support Worker Code of Conduct
