Salary Update

The Band 3 salary scale reflects the NHS Agenda for Change pay award (2026/2027) and will apply from August 2026, backdated to 1 April 2026.


Job Overview

Join Royal Gwent Hospital’s Gwanwyn Ward as a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW). This opportunity welcomes energetic, compassionate individuals eager to develop skills under the guidance of qualified nurses while delivering patient-centred care during rehabilitation and discharge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of a registered nurse or clinical lead, collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) (e.g., physiotherapists, occupational therapists).
  • Demonstrate patient-centred focus, communication skills (written/verbal), and enthusiasm for positive change management.
  • Provide direct and indirect care—ensuring high-quality person-focused treatment across 7/7, 24/7 operations, with flexible shifts (including nights and weekends).

Location/Lifestyle

  • Wards: Offers a supportive, collaborative environment with opportunities for career development and training.
  • Welsh Role: Welsh-language skills are desirable, but non-Welsh speakers are equally welcome.
