JOIN OUR SPECIALIST STROKE AND NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION UNIT!
We are looking to recruit a compassionate, highly motivated team player with excellent communication skills to join our patient-centred, supportive specialist Stroke and Neuro rehabilitation unit.
Airedale NHS Foundation Trust is committed to delivering a safe, fast, and effective acute stroke service with the support of the Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust, who will provide initial hyper-acute assessment, treatment, and stroke care. Ward 5 is a 24-bedded specialist unit to provide seamless, evidence-based, multidisciplinary care within the most appropriate care setting to individuals who have had a stroke and other neurological needs. Support and guidance will include caregivers to optimize the clinical outcome and care experience for both patient and carers.
Our motivated, hardworking nursing team works together with the specialist therapy team to provide a safe, caring, and supportive environment to achieve rehabilitation goals. We provide a unit-specific induction program and regular ward-based training sessions to maintain our high standards of quality, safety, and patient experience.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with the service of meals and support patients who may need assistance with eating and drinking in line with their plan of care.
- Assist with the safe moving, handling, and mobilization of patients, ensuring that care plans are followed to minimize risk.
- Communicate effectively with kindness, warmth, and compassion, recognizing when there are barriers to communication where support may be required.
- Act as a patient and staff advocate, escalating concerns and challenging poor behavior or practice appropriately.
- Maintain accurate records of care within the area of responsibility.
- Observe and report any changes in a patient’s condition to the Nurse in Charge.
- Involve patients and carers/relatives in the delivery of care.
- Provide reassurance and support to patients, carers/family.
- Support the maintenance and cleanliness of the clinical environment by attending to the general tidiness of the area, including unpacking and storage of stock deliveries. Report any estates issues appropriately.
- Support clinical teams to fulfill cleaning responsibilities as identified in the National Cleaning Standards framework.
