Job Title: Health Claims Handler Location: Hybrid and Remote options available Contract Type: Permanent Salary: £26,000 – £28,500 (based on experience)

About the Role
You’ll be the trusted point of contact for members navigating complex international medical claims, ensuring every case is resolved with empathy, accuracy, and efficiency.
Working closely with Medical and Preauthorisation teams, you’ll assess coverage, liaise with providers, and deliver exceptional service across phone, email, and digital channels.

Key Responsibilities
- Process all claims in accordance with policy terms, ensuring timely and accurate resolutions.
- Communicate effectively with members, healthcare providers, underwriters, and internal teams to resolve queries and provide updates.
- Verify that treatments meet accepted medical standards and that costs are reasonable and customary.
- Deliver empathetic, professional, and consistent responses via inbound calls, emails, and digital messaging.
- Maintain accurate records and manage workloads efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Escalate complex cases, potential fraud, or complaints to the appropriate teams for further review.
- Propose process improvements to enhance operational efficiency within claims handling.

Person Specification
Essential Requirements:
- Sharp attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy.
- Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Ability to remain calm, diplomatic, and professional under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in healthcare, travel, medical, pet insurance, or personal accident claims.
- Familiarity with private or international medical insurance claims processes.
- Experience in managing claim reserves and producing claims reports.
- German or Spanish language skills—a significant advantage.
