Job Description:
Private Medical Insurance Adviser (PMI) - Fully Remote (UK)
Salary: £34,000-£42,000+ basic + uncapped commission
Realistic OTE: £50,000-£70,000+ depending on performance
Lifepoint Healthcare Ltd | Private Medical Insurance (PMI) Brokerage is a multiple award-winning Private Medical Insurance brokerage, supporting both individual and SME clients across the UK.
We work with leading insurers including Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality, WPA, The Exeter, Freedom Health, PHC, and others. This is an ideal role for an experienced PMI adviser looking for a professional, friendly, fully-remote environment where advice quality genuinely matters.
Our team is warm, close-knit, and known for doing things properly. Not call-centre scripts. Not volume-driven sales. Just thoughtful, ethical advice and real client relationships.
We’re now looking for an experienced PMI adviser who is already operating in a whole-of-market brokerage environment and can advise clients independently from day one.
This role suits someone who already understands how health insurance works from an advisory perspective. Applicants must have recent experience advising clients on PMI in a broker or whole-of-market environment. This is not a training role. You must be comfortable advising independently from day one.
Most of our advisers spend their time advising clients, not carrying out administrative work. Our dedicated Client Support Team helps advisers focus on what they do best.
The Role
Experience across both consumer and SME cases is strongly preferred.
You’ll take ownership of advising clients on both new business and renewals, working across consumer and SME.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising clients on Private Medical Insurance across SME and consumer
- Managing renewals, comprehensive reviews, and mid-term needs from an adviser perspective
- Providing clear guidance on underwriting, exclusions, and medical history
- Structuring cover to client needs, budget, and risk profile
- Handling new-business enquiries end-to-end, including fact-finding, underwriting judgement, and insurer comparison
- Identifying and advising appropriate switching opportunities to improve client outcomes
- Building long-term client relationships based on trust and clarity
- Working closely with our Client Support Team to ensure smooth delivery
- Maintaining accurate, compliant records in line with FCA standards
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of client advice with minimal supervision and operate as a trusted, experienced adviser within the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This role is best suited to advisers who are already confident handling real client conversations without needing to rely on comparison tools to understand cover differences.
About You
Mandatory Experience (Please Read Carefully)
This role requires hands-on advisory experience in a broker or whole-of-market environment.
You should be able to clearly describe multiple real cases where you personally advised, placed, and managed PMI policies.
Be able to demonstrate experience handling complex cases involving pre-existing conditions and switching scenarios.
You must:
- Have personally advised clients on PMI cover (not just supported, trained, or handled claims)
- Have recommended and arranged policies across multiple insurers
- Have handled new business and renewals end-to-end
- Be confident advising on switching, underwriting implications, and insurer comparisons
This is not suitable for candidates coming from:
- Insurer-only roles (e.g. Bupa/AXA call handling, claims, underwriting support)
- Training or quality roles without direct advisory responsibility
- Candidates looking to move into broking for the first time
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has at least 3 years’ experience advising clients on PMI in a broker or whole-of-market environment
- Has worked with insurers such as Bupa, AXA Health, Vitality, Aviva, WPA, The Exeter, Freedom Health etc
- Is confident explaining underwriting, moratoriums, exclusions and policy structures
- Has strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Communicates clearly, both verbally and in writing, even in sensitive conversations
- Can juggle multiple priorities calmly and efficiently
- Enjoys building long-term client relationships rather than chasing volume
- Enjoys working as part of a team and contributing ideas
- Is comfortable working fully remote (we operate like one office on Teams)
- Is organised, reliable, and takes real pride in their work
- Wants to be part of something meaningful, not just another sales role
This isn’t a role for someone who just wants to “get by.” We’re a genuinely caring, professional, and hardworking team, and we’re looking for an adviser who brings that same energy and pride.
