Location: Capenhurst, Cheshire, UK Position Type: Permanent / Full-Time
Role Overview
We are seeking a qualified and proactive Health Physics Monitor / Technician to join our operational team. In this role, you will provide essential radiation protection services, ensuring safety for personnel, equipment, and environments while maintaining compliance with strict industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities

Radiological Surveys: Conduct routine and non-routine surveys of:
- Workplace environments
- Plant equipment
- Materials using specialised monitoring instruments

Workforce Support: Provide radiation protection coverage for:
- Maintenance teams
- Operations personnel
- Engineering staff within radiologically controlled areas

Dose Control:
- Issue and monitor personal dosimetry
- Establish safe stay times and working parameters

Contamination Control:
- Monitor personnel, tools, and waste transfers
- Prevent contamination spread
- Set up physical barriers and step-off pads as required

Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate records including:
- Radiological survey logs
- Safety documentation in alignment with statutory regulations

Emergency Response: Collaborate in:
- Response protocols
- Decontamination efforts post-incident or alarm
Qualifications & Experience
-
Experience: Proven track record as a Health Physics Monitor / Radiation Protection Technician, ideally within:
- UK nuclear decommissioning
- Power generation
- Defense sector

Credentials: Relevant industry qualifications, such as:
- City & Guilds Level 2/3 in Radiation Protection
- NVQ in Radiation Protection
- Or equivalent site-specific monitoring certifications

Technical Proficiency: Strong operations skills for:
- Handheld radiological monitoring instruments (dose rate meters, contamination monitors, air samplers)
- Dose assessment and interpretation

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain or hold UK Security Clearance (SC level preferred)
