Health and Safety Administrator / Waste Lead Reporter Spire Norwich Hospital | Fixed Term | 12 Months | Mon–Fri | 37.5 hours
About the Role
Spire Norwich Hospital is seeking a Health and Safety Administrator (Waste Lead Reporter) to support the Health and Safety Manager in delivering and managing H&S strategies, including leadership of waste management responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities

Administration & Documentation
- Maintain the Health & Safety Management System folder
- Collate H&S incidents from Datix (including trends, near misses, and reports)
- Update and distribute local health and safety policies across the facility

Action & Risk Management
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding actions on the Hospital-Wide Action Plan (as directed by the Health & Safety Manager)
- Manage Health & Safety Flash Alerts, responding to the central team within 7 days of escalation and collating departmental responses
- Ensure timely risk assessments are completed and communally advised the Health & Safety Manager
- Track H&S training records (course registrations, certificate issuing)

- Perform minuty-taking and distribution for:
- Water safety meetings
- Fire safety meetings
- Waste management meetings
- Safety Representative meetings

- Professional Development
- Focus on completing additional Health & Safety qualifications for future promotion potential
Requirements & Qualifications
- Preferred: 3+ years of administration experience in healthcare or similar customer-facing environments
- Practical understanding of Health & Safety legislation and risk management
- Desirable: Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) certification
- Competent MS Office user (especially for report generation, databases)
- Strong time management for competing priorities and multifaceted workloads
- Proactive self-motivation without direct oversight
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, including report creation
- Interpersonal and collaborative skills for effective teamwork
- Travel requirement: Occasional visits to Spire’s Cambridge hub site for meetings
