An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a leading civil engineering and construction contractor on a major project in Port Talbot.
Working alongside the operational team, you will be responsible for promoting and maintaining the highest standards of health and safety across site, ensuring compliance with company procedures, UK legislation and industry best practice. This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with site management, engineers, subcontractors and the wider project team to create a positive safety culture and support the successful delivery of a high-profile project.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further their career with a contractor delivering complex projects across the civils, groundworks, demolition, remediation and infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional health and safety advice and support to site management and operational teams.
- Promote a proactive "Safety First" culture across the project.
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits and behavioural safety observations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, CDM Regulations and all relevant UK health and safety legislation.
- Assist in the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and ensure works are undertaken safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and health & safety awareness initiatives.
- Support the maintenance of ISO management systems and assist with internal and external audits.
- Produce health and safety reports, statistics and KPI information for senior management.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, project teams and the supply chain to continually improve safety performance.

Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as a Health & Safety Advisor within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or demolition.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations and construction best practice.
- Experience undertaking site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage personnel at all levels.
- Strong organisational and report-writing skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
- Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH, GradIOSH or CMIOSH).
- Experience working on large civil engineering, remediation, demolition or infrastructure projects.
- Internal Auditor qualification.
- First Aid at Work
