Altro Health & Safety Advisor
Altro are looking for an experienced and motivated Health & Safety Advisor to join our manufacturing site in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a health and safety professional who enjoys being visible on the shop floor, building strong relationships with colleagues, and making a genuine difference to workplace safety.
You'll play a key role in supporting our Zero Harm strategy, helping to ensure that everyone goes home safe every day. You'll provide practical advice and guidance to managers and employees, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation while continually looking for ways to improve standards, reduce risk, and promote a positive safety culture.
Responsibilities
- Carry out audits, inspections and risk assessments
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses
- Ensure effective corrective actions are put in place
- Help develop and maintain safe systems of work
- Analyse safety performance data
- Deliver training and awareness sessions
- Work with external auditors and regulatory bodies
- Encourage safe behaviours
- Challenge unsafe practices
- Help colleagues take ownership of health and safety

Requirements
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent Level 3 qualification)
- Membership of IOSH at TechIOSH or GradIOSH level
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within a manufacturing, engineering, logistics, warehousing or similar operational environment
- Good understanding of UK health and safety legislation
- Confident carrying out investigations, audits and risk assessments
- Comfortable communicating with people at all levels of the business
Desirable:
- Experience delivering health and safety training
- Working with ISO 45001 management systems
- Leading behavioural safety initiatives
