This is an unparalleled opportunity to influence safety performance within submarine operations. You’ll support complex engineering activities in a highly regulated nuclear environment—partnering directly with operational teams to manage risk, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to vital defence programmes essential for national security.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Provide expert health, safety, and environmental advice to operational teams, managers, and stakeholders.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and safety reviews to identify hazards and promote best practice.
- Support risk assessments and review safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with company standards and UK legislation.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project teams to implement safety improvements and foster a positive safety culture.
This role operates on a full-time basis (37 hours per week) with hybrid working arrangements, requiring a minimum of three days onsite per week at Rosyth.
Essential Experience
Applicants should bring the following essential experience:
- Proven experience in a health, safety, and environmental advisory role within a high-risk industry, such as:
- Marine
- Shipbuilding
- Engineering
- Power generation
- Manufacturing
- Construction
- Ability to influence operational teams and managers effectively to manage risk and uphold safe working practices.
- Experience conducting inspections, audits, and compliance reviews, identifying hazards, and implementing practical controls.
- Experience investigating incidents and near misses, including root cause analysis and corrective action management.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation within a highly regulated environment.

Desirable Qualifications

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must:
- Be a sole UK national.
- Be eligible to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) government clearance for this role.
