Health, Safety and Environmental Manager

Role Overview

Salary: To be discussed on application Location: Leamington Spa Contract: Permanent

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to drive HSE performance and leadership within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role focuses on fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring legislative compliance, upholding ISO 45001 standards, and delivering high-performance team engagement.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Compliance

  • Develop and implement the site Health and Safety strategy, aligning it with business objectives and group standards
  • Provide visible leadership across shopfloor, promoting safety-first behaviours and high standards
  • Ensure compliance with all UK Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and ISO 45001 requirements

Operational Safety & Risk Management

  • Coach, mentor, and support employees, team leaders, and managers to enhance ownership and accountability for safety
  • Create and deliver safety training programmes based on risk assessments
  • Promote behavioural safety, proactive incident reporting (near-misses), and safety coaching
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safe systems of work for press machines, assembly areas, warehouse operations, maintenance, and home delivery teams

Incident & Process Improvement

  • Lead safety committee meetings and ensure action items are successfully executed
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses using root cause analysis methodologies
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and investigations, tracking completion of corrective actions
  • Support continuous improvement through data analysis, employee engagement, and operational routines

Documentation & Certification Maintenance

  • Maintain and improve the ISO 45001 MS (Management System), including internal audits, corrective actions, and documentation control
  • Assist with external certification and surveillance audits to ensure ongoing compliance

Communication & Training

  • Produce safety communications, including toolbox talks, visual aids, and safety alerts

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience & Technical Skills

  • Proven Health, Safety, and Environmental management experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong expertise working with press machines, assembly, and warehouse/logistics functions
  • Minimum NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience maintaining and improving ISO 45001 MS
  • In-depth knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and application in manufacturing
  • Experience using leading (L) and lagging (L) indicators for performance improvements
  • Strong capability in accident/investigation with corrective action implementation
  • Expertise in analytical problem-solving, risk assessment, and data-driven decision-making
