SHE Manager - 16 month Fixed Term Contract

As we continue to enjoy an exciting period of growth in the UK, we are looking for additional resources to support us with our Transport for London project. The SHE Manager is responsible for leading all Safety, Health, and Environmental activities across the project, ensuring full compliance with UK regulatory requirements, project contractual obligations, and Indra's SHE framework.

This role will serve as the primary SHE interfaces with the client, external stakeholders, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams. The SHE Manager will lead the project SHE team, coordinate closely with the Risk Manager on SHE risk management, and promote a proactive, positive safety culture across all workstreams.
Key duties include:
Develop, implement, and maintain the project's SHE Management Plans, and other deliverables related to SHE in alignment with contractual requirements Ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM Regulations, environmental regulations and contractual obligations, including hazardous waste handling and emissions control and other relevant statutory requirements Lead and manage the SHE team, providing direction, coaching, support, and performance oversight Act as the primary point of contact for SHE matters with the client, attending coordination meetings, safety reviews, audits, and workshops Ensure timely submission of SHE documentation, including risk assessments using tools such as Fault Tree Analysis and external factor analysis method statements (RAMS), and implement the safe systems of work and ensure safe procedures are documented and applied., reports, and evidence to internal and external stakeholders. Maintain records in accordance with ISO 45001 (Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environment) Lead safety risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and tracking across all workstreams (Back Office, Front Office, Service Desk, Facilities, TUPE transition, etc.) Lead the SHE incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions Identify and deliver all required SHE training and awareness activities, such as inductions and toolbox talks, and promote a strong, proactive safety culture across the project team and subcontractors This is a senior leadership role requiring a strong ITIL-based service management background, proven people leadership, and demonstrable success in high-volume, time-critical IT operations

Requirements
Required Skills and Experience:
Relevant bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction or a related discipline; Minimum of 15 years' experience in SHE management, ideally in transport/rail (TfL, Network Rail, or similar); NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) or equivalent; NEBOSH Diploma preferred; Environmental qualification (IEMA Certificate or above) or significant environmental management Environmental Impact Assessment and Waste Management experience preferred Strong understanding of UK SHE legislation and CDM regulations; Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. High degree of organisation, structure and attention to detail Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities Strong understanding of governance frameworks and UK compliance standards
Desirable:
Experience in Health, Safety & Quality in the rail industry Working Knowledge of LUL Contract QUENSH Working knowledge of Network Rail Contract requirements Safety Working Knowledge of Rail Group Standards Linkup Core Audit Experience
