Health & Safety Consultant (with Environmental Exposure)

Location: Home-based with regular travel across London, Home Counties, Birmingham, and the South East

An established environmental and engineering consultancy seeks to appoint an experienced Environment, Health & Safety Consultant to support a diverse portfolio of corporate and multi-site clients in the South East. The role is predominantly home-based but requires frequent travel to client sites.

This position is ideal for professionals with a corporate consultancy, multi-client advisory, or agency background, capable of engaging with stakeholders from operational through executive levels. The role blends a strong Health & Safety focus with select environmental responsibilities, particularly around ISO systems, compliance, and auditing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) consultancy services across a diverse client base
  • Conduct risk assessments, compliance audits, and site inspections
  • Support the implementation and enhancement of:
    • ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems)
    • ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems)
  • Establish strong client relationships across corporate and regulated environments
  • Provide commercially effective HSE consultations tailored to client needs
  • Oversee end-to-end project delivery for both short-term and long-term engagements
  • Produce high-calibre technical reports with actionable recommendations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary consultancy teams on multi-phase projects

Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience within an EHS consultancy or multi-site corporate environment
  • Strong Health & Safety expertise with pertinent environmental industry knowledge
  • Corporate client experience is non-negotiable
  • Competency in ISO 45001 (ISO 14001 an asset)
  • Experience delivering audits, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations
  • Confidence in engaging with stakeholders at all organisational tiers
  • Strong communication and project management capabilities
  • Valid UK driving licence with willingness to regularly travel across regions

Desirable:

  • GradIOSH, TechIOSH, or CMIOSH accreditation
  • PIEMA or equivalent environmental certification/exposure
  • Lead Auditor or related auditing qualification
  • Experience managing or advising on multi-site operations
