Health & Safety Coordinator
Kepak is a global food company serving international retailers and food service household names with prime cuts of meat, on-trend food concepts and ready-for-market convenience foods.
Kepak St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers' counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance.
We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and motivated Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team on site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest and relevant experience in the sector to join our growing and dynamic H&S team.
This is a full time, permanent position working Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm with a competitive salary.
Role Purpose
As Health & Safety Coordinator you will be responsible for the coordination, administration and implementation of a variety of health and safety projects and system within the Site.
Systems, Policies and Procedures
- Provide technical and administrative support for H&S project coordination, maintenance and management
- Assist in ongoing development and implementation of effective health and safety systems, policies and procedures on the site.
- Assist in enforcing the effective implementation of health and safety practices.

Safety Personnel
- Facilitate, support the health and safety risk management teams on site.
- Train site personnel in a department's software applications that are vital in order to fulfil their functions (Risk management applications and spreadsheets)
Risk Assessments
- Assist Site H&S Manager to undertake and review relevant assessments for operations on site
Accident Investigations
- Liaising with safety personnel regarding site accident, incident and near misses reporting and investigations ensuring corrective and preventative actions are formulated and implemented
- Gathering evidence such as documentation and photographs
- Assist in updating and uploading accident investigations reports.
Review and Assist
- Assist in carrying out analysis on site data in order to facilitate site benchmarking, internal auditing and determine improvement recommendations for potential areas of increased risk
- Preparing presentations and reports for site and meetings with the safety teams and assist in developing H&S strategic plans as required for site
Requirements
- Previous experience in Health and Safety, ideally in food and/or manufacturing environment
- NEBOSH General certificate in Safety and Health would be an advantage, however this can also be facilitated by the business
- Relationship builder with influencing skills, able to build relationships with colleagues across all levels, departments and teams, willing to go the extra mile
- Communicate well in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all levels
- Organised, energetic and self-motivated
- Ability to multitask and work under own initiative to deliver to deadlines
- Ability to identify continuous improvement initiatives and ability to challenge status quo
- Strong IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point and other common software tools
