The Opportunity - Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator
About the role:
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Health & Safety Advisor to support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards across the business.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, company policies and industry best practice. Working closely with managers, supervisors and employees, you will help drive a positive safety culture, support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to creating a safe and compliant working environment for all.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HSE professional who is passionate about safety, enjoys building relationships and wants to make a real impact across a busy operational environment.
What does this role involve day to day?
Health, Safety & Environmental Support
- Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental management systems.
- Providing guidance and advice to managers and employees on HSE best practice and compliance requirements.
- Supporting the development and review of risk assessments, safe systems of work and method statements.
Audits, Inspections & Compliance
- Conducting workplace inspections, audits and assessments to identify hazards and monitor compliance.
- Tracking corrective actions and ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Assisting with compliance activities and supporting management reviews.
Incident Investigation & Continuous Improvement
- Supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations to identify root causes and preventative actions.
- Monitoring HSE performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Encouraging positive safety behaviours and helping to strengthen the site's safety culture.

Training & Employee Engagement
- Coordinating HSE inductions, training records and competency requirements.
- Delivering toolbox talks, awareness campaigns and safety briefings.
- Supporting employee engagement initiatives that promote health, safety and environmental awareness.
Reporting & Data Management
- Maintaining HSE records, documentation and reporting systems.
- Producing KPI reports, statistics and trend analysis to support business decision-making.
- Supporting the accurate reporting of HSE performance metrics and objectives
This will be suited to you if…
Experience & Knowledge
- You have experience in a Health, Safety or Environmental role and a good understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- You have experience supporting audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, construction, utilities or logistics environments would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems is desirable.
Skills & Competencies
- You are highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- You have excellent communication skills and can engage effectively with employees at all levels.
- You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and can identify practical solutions to workplace challenges.
- You are confident using Microsoft Office applications and producing reports from performance data.

- You are proactive, positive and committed to continuous improvement.
- You are comfortable challenging unsafe behaviours in a constructive and professional manner.

Qualifications
- You hold a NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent), or are willing to work towards achieving this qualification.
- You have GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
