As ‘the UK’s No. 1 Bakery Brand’ we have been baking bread since 1876.
Today, we are proudly a fifth-generation family, with the introduction of the sixth generation, supplying over 18,000 retail customers from 11 bakeries and 16 depots, producing a range of over 70 products including gluten and wheat free. Family and values are what makes us different, and we are a proud bunch, join us and you too could be proud to be Warburtons.
The Recipe
Safety is our number one priority. As part of the site leadership team, you’ll partner with the Site Lead to strengthen our HSE culture across a complex, 24/7 food manufacturing environment. You’ll coach, influence and enable our colleagues at our new bakery, 41 Bakery —supporting them to ensure they go home safe, every day, while protecting the environment.
The Role
- Deliver our national HSE strategy locally—turn policy into practice, embed best‑in‑class standards and keep us compliant with legal and company requirements.
- Be the trusted expert—give timely, pragmatic and legally robust advice to line managers on all things Health, Safety and Environment.
- Coach and upskill—identify site HSE learning needs (bakery & depot), build cost‑effective training with our TL&D partners, and raise capability at every level.
- Drive continuous improvement—own the loop from risk assessments and audits through to action closure; learn from accidents/incidents and prevent reoccurrence.
- Own our HSE management systems—monitor performance against Warburtons’ HSE framework, recommend improvements, and contribute to company‑wide projects.
- Lead engagement—run initiatives that boost commitment to HSE, from shopfloor to SLT, and measure progress through KPIs, audits and project delivery.
- Manage the numbers—keep local HSE spend on budget and focused on high‑impact risk reduction.
- Grow others—line manage and develop a small team of HSE Advisors, setting clear goals and celebrating success.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
