About the Role
The Health, Safety & Facility Manager (H&S Manager) will lead health, safety, and facility management across three UK sites, ensuring legal compliance, driving continuous EHS improvement, and fostering a strong safety culture. The role acts as the competent person under the Health & Safety at Work Act and provides subject matter expertise in all aspects of H&S and facility management.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Leadership
- Oversee the H&S team across three UK sites, driving team development and performance.
- Lead the H&S strategy and compliance roadmap, ensuring adherence to legislation and best practices across all sites.
- Provide expert advisory support to site leadership on risk, compliance, and operational safety.
- Prepare and manage corporate H&S assessments and management plans.
Incident & Risk Management
- Coordinate investigations and reporting of accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Support corporate ESG group EH&S reporting and stakeholder inquiries.
- Lead monthly health & safety committee meetings.

Training & Compliance Audits
- Develop and deliver H&S training programs, including induction training for new employees.
- Examples: Manual handling, Fire Safety, First Aid, Working at Height (FLT/IPAF).
- Manage internal ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and compliance audits in collaboration with site teams.
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide guidance on risk assessments.
Facility & Operational Management
- Manage facility operations, including maintenance, compliance monitoring, and contractor coordination.
- Support site business continuity planning (BCP).
- Oversee site infrastructure changes and layout planning in line with best practice.
Regulatory & Contractor Liaison
- Arrange external inspections (e.g., LOLER, PUWER, insurance compliance visits, Fire Risk Assessments).
- Assess requirements and provide Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS); Permit-to-Work (PTW) documentation for Manchester site, with support to sister sites (Wotton/UKBC).
- Facilitate required health and safety training courses (e.g., manual handling, fire safety).
Requirements & Skills
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate (essential).
- Experience in multi-site health, safety, and facility management.
- Strong leadership & stakeholder management abilities.
- Results-driven, with a proven track record in driving measurable EH&S performance improvements.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 highly desirable (especially for pharmaceutical/medical environments).
- Ability to analyse and present data (e.g., accident/incident reporting, KPI dashboards).
- Membership of a professional safety body (e.g., IOSH) is preferred.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
- Positive and optimistic mindset suitable for a fast-growing, collaborative company.
Desirable Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
