Health & Safety Manager – Meat Manufacturing Site (Winsford)

We’re looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join our Meat Manufacturing Site in Winsford. This critical role will support the implementation of the Myton Health & Safety Strategy, ensuring compliance, driving culture change, and fostering a proactive safety lens across the organisation.

About the Role

The Health & Safety Manager will play a key leadership role in:

  • Supporting the delivery of Myton’s Health & Safety Strategy – driving seamless compliance, fostering a positive safety culture, and embedding Health & Safety standards across the site.
  • Collaborating with site leadership to ensure alignment with company policies, environmental regulations, and legislative requirements.
  • Proactively improving safety performance through continuous audits, root cause analyses, and risk mitigation.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to support colleagues at all levels in maintaining safe working practices.
  • Overseeing environmental management, permits, and authority engagements, including effluent controls and spill response.
  • Leading investigations into accidents, near-misses, and incidents, ensuring robust action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Leveraging relationships with regulators, external consultants (legal, compliance), and other internal sites to share best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Policy Holding

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, Myton policies, and operational standards.
  • Monitor and update site management systems, including risk assessments, policies, and procedure documentation.
  • Maintain audit trails for environmental, safety, and regulatory inspections.

Incident & Risk Management

  • Conduct independent investigations of accidents, incidents, and whistle-blower concerns, presenting findings to relevant authorities (including HSE).
  • Implement root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to prevent repeat incidents.
  • Escalate high-risk incidents for management review.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
