About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager to manage Health & Safety and Facilities activities across our two Basingstoke sites, along with our clinics across the Southern region.
As Health & Safety Manager, you will ensure that Blatchford’s buildings, infrastructure, plant, and services across the Southern region are safe, compliant, efficient, and fit for purpose.
You will support the Senior Leadership Team in delivering the business strategy, driving consistency and cost-effectiveness through national facilities contracts, while promoting a strong health, safety, and compliance culture across the organisation.
Key Duties
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Lead Health & Safety activities across the Southern region, ensuring compliance with Blatchford’s H&S policies, procedures, and all relevant legislation.
- Support the Head of Health, Safety, Environment, and Facilities in promoting a positive Health & Safety culture across the business.
- Plan, organise, and deliver appropriate Health & Safety training and awareness programmes.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses:
- Produce reports, identify root causes, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage Occupational Health surveillance arrangements:
- Coordinate, keep records, and follow up on actions.

- Have line management responsibility for Facilities Technicians based in Basingstoke.
- Provide support to facilities and HSE colleagues across other global sites, including:
- Sheffield (UK)
- USA
- Germany
- Norway
- Joint Ventures.
- Manage and coordinate statutory and service contracts.
- Support the management of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, and facilities compliance activities.
- Oversee construction projects, refurbishments, equipment relocations, renovations, and new builds as required.
- Manage contractors and suppliers, ensuring:
- Risk Assessments (RAMS) are reviewed.
- Permits are issued.
- Performance is monitored.
- Standards are maintained.
- Support effective budget setting and financial planning for HSE and Facilities-related cost centres.
- Drive cost savings while maintaining both service quality and legal compliance.

Required Experience and Skills
To be considered for the role, you must fulfil the following criteria:
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in delivering Health & Safety, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- NEBOSH qualification
- Experience and awareness in Facilities Management
- Experience in effective budget management
- Strong analytical skills
- Highly organised and structured
- Innovative and strategic thinker
- Strong communicator, with a "can-do" attitude and a positive, flexible approach to the role.
- Full driving license and a willingness to travel within the UK, Europe, and the USA, occasionally at short notice.
