Role Summary
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and improve HSE performance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role will drive safety culture, ensure legislative compliance, maintain ISO 45001 standards, and provide visible leadership across production, assembly and logistics operations. Working closely with teams at all levels, the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager will promote a proactive approach to safety, deliver continuous improvement initiatives, and support a safe, compliant and high-performing workplace.
Role & Responsibilities of the Health & Safety Manager
- Develop and deliver the site Health & Safety strategy and action plan aligned to business objectives and group standards
- Provide visible leadership across the shopfloor, promoting high standards and safety-first behaviours
- Coach, mentor and support employees, team leaders and managers to improve ownership and accountability for safety
- Create and implement comprehensive safety training programmes based on site risk assessments
- Promote behavioural safety principles, safety coaching and proactive reporting of near misses
- Lead the site safety committee and ensure actions are effectively managed through to completion
- Ensure compliance with all applicable UK Health & Safety legislation and regulations
- Develop, maintain and improve risk assessments and safe systems of work across manufacturing operations
- Manage safety requirements relating to press machines, assembly areas, warehouse operations, maintenance activities and home delivery teams
- Conduct audits, inspections and investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and sustained
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis, employee engagement and operational routines
- Produce practical safety communications including toolbox talks, visual management materials and safety alerts
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations using structured root cause analysis methodologies
- Maintain and continuously improve the ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System
- Manage internal audits, corrective actions, document control and management review processes
- Support external certification and surveillance audits, ensuring ongoing compliance and audit readiness

- Proven Health & Safety management experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience working with press machines, assembly operations and warehouse/logistics functions
- Minimum NEBOSH qualification or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience maintaining and improving ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and its practical application within manufacturing
- Experience using leading and lagging indicators to drive performance improvements
- Strong accident and incident investigation capability with proven corrective action implementation
- Excellent coaching, mentoring and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to influence teams within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and risk assessment skills
